Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures: Saber for Hire #1| Comic Review

We’re back in the High Republic with the latest comic from Dark Horse. Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures: Saber for Hire # 1 brings Ty Yorrick back to the comic pages for another adventure.

Ty, the former Jedi turned monster hunter, is on the prowl again with her Padawan squire, Drewen. Drewen is a Segredo who has a super cool cloaking/camouflage ability that always looks nice on the page. I really like this pairing.

Drewen’s species has some really unique abilities and a fun look, and it’s unfortunate that it appears they go extinct during the Clone War.

The B-Story that will certainly interact with the A-Story follows the son of Chancellor Lina Soh, Kip, and his boyfriend (?) on essentially a vacation getaway. Unfortunately, they were off the grid so much, that they had no idea about the Nihil launching the Occlusion Zone. If he were to get caught by the Nihil, one can assume they would try to make an example out of him to hurt the Chancellor at the first opportunity

I think the artwork in these books from Rachael Stott is some of the best in the Star Wars comics. Her work in this book, and the previous The Monster of Temple Peak, deserve all of the accolades. Beautiful stuff.

The stories of Ty Yorrick have never been my favorite, but I do love these books. The stories are well told, and the artwork is beautiful.
