I watched the second Doctor Who 60th Anniversary special “Wild Blue Yonder”, and it must be said that I’m pretty confident at this point that Doctor Who is right up my alley. I didn’t like it as much as I liked “The Star Beast“, but if years of watching Star Trek has told me anything about myself, it’s that I love episodes where an alien duplicates the human’s body to try to do nefarious stuff.

Because this is a direct continuation of the 10th Doctor’s story (and everyone after him, but you know what I mean), I am missing out on a lot of the relevant history between the Doctor and Donna. It’s still not getting in the way of me enjoying the episodes and feeling the emotional pull that they’re going for.

The friendship between the Doctor and Donna is palpable, and you really feel that these two have been through it together on adventures. David Tennant and Catherine Tate are great together. It’s all that I need to get the emotional weight of the episode; however, I think it’ll be much more valuable once I go back and watch those prior seasons.

I’m excited to see how this ends with the next special and how the 15th Doctor gets started. It took no time for me to get into the show. Why did I wait so long?

Also, I laughed at the Isaac Newton appearance knowing just how mad stodgy old racists were going to be. Good stuff.
