Batman Unburied | Spotify Audio Series Review

I just happened to stumble across these audio dramas that DC has made with Spotify when I was looking for something else. Batman Unburied is the first one that I checked out.

The story follows Batman and Barbara Gordon unraveling a massive plot hatched by Poison Ivy, the Harvester, and Hugo Strange. People are being murdered with various organs being removed from each one. The mystery even weaves through an alternate present where Bruce Wayne’s parents never died!

The voice cast is stunning. Winston Duke is our Batman/Bruce Wayne in this story, while Gina Rodriguez is Barbara Gordon and Jason Isaacs is Alfred Pennyworth. For the villains, Sam Witwer is Harvester, Hasan Minaj is the Riddler, John Rhys-Davies is Hugo Strange, and Emmy Raver-Lampman is Poison Ivy. Plus, an amazing Lance Riddick appearance as Bruce’s father Thomas.

If I’m completely honest with you, I’m getting to the point where I am completely over the growly Batman voice. I really hope that the new DC Universe coming from James Gunn that they veer off from the current character trait. Every single time that Batman was talking in this, I just wanted to roll my eyes. It’s time to move past it.

Overall, I had a really good time with this. I liked nearly all of the voice work, and I really liked the story. There were two major twists involved with who the villain actually was that I didn’t see coming. I really enjoyed that. Check it out whenever you get the chance.
