Sonic the Hedgehog 2 | Movie Review

I have no idea how these movies are so good, but Sonic the Hedgehog 2 continued awesomeness of the first movie

The story was a lot of fun. Knuckles partners with Robotnik to find the Chaos Emerald. Robotnik obviously betrays him, leading Knuckles to team up with Sonic and Tails to take Robotnik down and capture the Chaos Emerald.

James Marsden takes a backseat in this one, as do most of the human characters. Tika Sumpter gets more to do in this one, however. Also, Natasha Rothwell is hilarious in the opening half hour of the movie. Still, Marsden and Sumpter feel like parents who are concerned for their child, and I think this really makes the emotional scenes mean something.

Of the human characters, everyone knows that there’s only one star in this movie. Jim Carrey is at his absolute best as The Eggman Doctor Robotnik. The man has been a comedic genius for decades, and he is shining in his final film roles. Many famous actors would half-ass this performance, but not Jim.

Idris Elba is the perfect casting for Knuckles. His deep voice is such a nice contrast with Ben Schwartz’s Sonic and Colleen O’Shaughnessey’s Tails. It enhances the differences in Knuckles as a character from the two.

The year for Shadow at the end of the movie was fun. When you have a clear-cut plan for the sequel, it makes these teases worthwhile.

I’m going to do my best to knock out the Knuckles show before the new movie comes out.
