Halo delivered another solid episode of television with ‘Onyx’

Week after week, I continue to be glad that I didn’t give up on Halo on Paramount+. Sure, the new season still has its flaws, but I’m enjoying the story being told this season far more than season one.

I was wondering when we would get to the point where John and Kai discovered that the other was still alive, and it didn’t take us too long. With Ackerson manipulating Kai, I didn’t expect her confrontation of John to go smoothly, but she put a beating on him.

Then, Kai essentially tricked Ackerson into revealing that everything John told her was true was a nice way to show that, despite what we witnessed a little earlier, she still trusted him, because he is the Master Chief.

John and Makee both working with Cortana (who is also spying for Parangosky?) to get to and activate the keystone was nice symmetry. What binds them together so much?

I don’t know a lot about the Halo games (despite being an Xbox guy, I’ve never been a Halo guy), so I don’t know exactly what will happen whenever sometime reaches the actual Halo that’s being referenced. Seems bad though.

As for Soren and Laera looking for Kessler, I assume we’ll pick that up next week? It was weird to start that chase on the planet and then drop it so quickly in this episode.

Look, you can hate all you want, but I’m having a great time with this show. I can’t wait to see how the season concludes with the final two episodes.
