Agatha All Along – Season 1 | TV Review

Agatha All Along Was a lot of fun and one of the rare TV shows from Marvel that actually feels like a TV show and not just a movie cut into 6-10 episodes.

I know very little about the character of Agatha Harkness from Marvel comics, so I didn’t know what to expect from the show. Obviously, I knew it was going to be heavy into witchcraft, but other than that I was walking in blind. I’m pretty confident that the majority of viewers were walking in completely blind as well.

And I hope everybody had just as good of a time as I did. Spoilers ahead.

While I (like most everyone else) assumed that Billy was going to be Wanda Maximoff’s son Wiccan, I wasn’t expecting the wild twist with “The Witches’ Road”. Once the reveal was made that it was all made up, everything from previous episodes fell into place. It was beautiful.

The ending was good and leaves us in a place with various possibilities for the future. A season two? A Young Avengers show/movie? A Doctor Strange movie? Who knows!?

The cast was excellent throughout. Kathryn Hahn was brilliant while Aubrey Plaza was a scene stealer. Joe Locke, Debra Jo Rupp, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and Patti LuPone were terrific, and LuPone put in a stunning performance in her big episode.

With Marvel’s current penchant for telling stories about a million characters at the same time, who knows when we will see Agatha and Billy (and Tommy? and Death? and Jen?).

I really enjoyed the series, and I hope everyone else did, too. You should definitely check it out.
