Maya wants a war | Echo episode 2 review

After two episodes of Echo, I really like Marvel’s new series. She’s an interesting, different new character and I really like what she brings to the table. Episode 2 continued Maya’s fight against Kingpin’s enterprise, even if she doesn’t yet know that he’s alive.

The opening of the episode was great. I like the flashbacks to the Choctaw Nation. Showing them playing lacrosse and what we find out is a battle for banishment it was great. Seeing the mounds when they were active in Alabama was beautiful even if it was only for a moment. It’s always a shame that we don’t have a greater appreciation for the native American culture and cities that were established here for decades or centuries before the Europeans came over and destroyed them.

Oh my god the skating rink playing “All My Life” by K-Ci and Jojo brought back a flood of memories from being a kid at the skating rink back in the late 1990s and early 2000s. This was great. So far, everything about the skating rink has been tremendous.

After I watched the first episode, I was reading something about the show, and they pointed out how after so many years away from her family and friends, all of them remember how to sign with her. Now, they may not remember everything. I also read that Biscuits signed the word “stand” upside down for “understand” which is a funny touch for his character. With that said, every time they showed her talking to Kingpin, he had somebody with him translating. So for all he talked about how Maya and him were family, he never even tried to learn ASL to communicate with her.

I can’t wait to watch episode 3, but if anything happens to Biscuits and Billie Jack, I will never forgive Echo.
