A rushed finale | Echo episode 5 review

Through the first four episodes, I have really enjoyed Marvel’s Echo. As the first true show under the Marvel Spotlight banner, I think they did a great job. I’m just disappointed that the ending feels so rushed.

It was great to get the confirmation on the healing ability that Maya’s mom had that we learned about in the previous episode. As assumed, it looks like a power passed down from the first Choctaw.

Echo’s first “real” superhero outfit looks cool. I really dig it. I can’t wait to see it. Continue to evolve over the next few years in her next few appearances and shows and movies.

I don’t fully understand the extent of Echo’s powers. She gave Chula and Bonnie temporary powers to fight off Kingpin’s thugs, but she also… Sent Kingman back to a memory from when he was a kid? And then took that pain from him? I’m not going to lie, I’m a little confused by what just happened.

I’m a little bummed out. It’s going to be honest about it. I know the show was hacked up by editors, and they cut it down to only five episodes. I really think one more episode could have helped the show tremendously. Everything feels rushed in the final episode.

At the end of the day, I like Echo. I think it’s a good show. I hope we see her in something else in the future. I wish they had let these creatives make the show they wanted instead of limiting them to only these five episodes after they had started making the show. Feels like we lost something.

As for that mid-credits scene? Mayor Wilson Fisk? I think it’s going to happen.
