There was a story about Gamora in season one of What If…? that was left out of the final season cut that was released on Disney+. I think “What If… Iron Man Crashed into the Grandmaster?” it’s kind of that episode? I don’t know.

This episode is set immediately following the events of Avengers 1, but this time Iron Man fails to return through the wormhole and ends up in Sakaar where be comes face to face with The Grandmaster.

I’m enjoying the nicknames coming out of this season. The Grandmaster calling Tony Stark “Mr. Metal Dojo Man” was solid.

Listen, regardless of how much I loved other things in this episode, my heart screamed with joy at the race. It was pure podrace from The Phantom Menace. It was beautiful.

There were some other funny moments from this episode:

• When the crowd was throwing chinchillas at Valkyrie
• “Well, hello! I am Korg. I’m more of a lover than a fighter.”
• “I’m going to name him Nikos after my friend Jeffrey.”

Sure, this story was more Iron Man than Gamora, but I feel like it works at that “missing” episode… If it is that.

This isn’t my favorite episode of What If…? so far, but it was fun. That’s all I want from this show.
