Moana 2 | Movie Review

We went to see Moana 2, and I thought it was fine. It wasn’t nearly as good as the first one, but that’s totally fine! The first Moana movie is an all-timer from Pixar.

The second Moana movie features the titular character going on inventory to find other people of the sea. On the way, she gathers a crew to help her, rescues Maui, and defeats a god. All in a day’s work.

Oh yeah, she becomes a demigod herself. I’m pretty sure, at least.

Look, I had a good time. It was fun. Disney doesn’t need me to defend this movie. It’s going to make almost $1 billion. They’re fine.

Moana finding the other ocean people opens up a lot for the future.

I think that Moana finding all the other sea people is really going to open up the future of the series. It allows them to tell more stories with a variety of cultures throughout the world. There’s a lot of potential here.

It was obvious this was just a TV repackaged for a movie.

The reports were that this was originally a TV show that was turned into a film after some of the other Pixar movies didn’t do so well in theaters.

I really feel like you can tell that it was the case, that they essentially repurposed scripts and maybe even animation to release this movie.

Again, the movie was fine, but I don’t see how this movie would have been a TV show. It really feels like Disney doesn’t know how to make TV shows at this point for Disney+. Everything feels like a movie that’s been chopped up into episodes.

The music was just… Ok.

Boy, Disney really missed the mark in letting Lin Manuel Miranda walk away. I really believe you can feel the drop in quality of the music over the last few years.

There was maybe one song in this entire movie that is even catchy. It’s sad, especially after the first one had so many bangers.
