Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 1 was fun and I’ll keep watching

When they announced the new Percy Jackson and the Olympians show in Disney+, I knew that I wanted to check things out. Great news for me that the first episode was good!

I’ve never read the Percy Jackson books nor seen the movies of the 2010s, but the concept is one that intrigues me. Plus, the cast of this show is pretty excellent.

Lucky for me, the first episode was a lot of fun for me and the almost-eight year old in my house. In fact, she wants to keep watching the show, so I’ll take that as a big win.

I can tell that I’m going to like the dynamic between Walker Scobell as Percy and Aryan Simhadri as Grover. I’m excited to see how they build that out as we move along. Earlier this year when I saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, I was blown away by the dynamic between the four kids playing the turtles. I can’t say for sure that Percy is going to give us the same fun, but it’s possible!

The bit we got from Sally Jackson (played by Virginia Kull) was good and sweet, and I hope we get more of her.

Everything with the minotaur was a lot of fun. I thought it looked pretty good as well. They clearly put some money into this, and I think they pulled it off.

I’m excited to see where the show goes, and reading that the author of the books Rick Riordan is so heavily involved, gives me a lot of hope for the future.
