The Gang Finds The Bolt | Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 7 review

The penultimate episode of season one of Percy Jackson and the Olympians dropped us straight into the Underworld with our heroes. This has been the big build up for the season so far, and as someone who had never read the books, I’ve been all in. Is Percy going to prevent this war?

I don’t know! We’ll have to wait until next week, folks!

The scene with Percy, Annabeth, and Grover failing to bribe Charon in the Underworld was great. Then, Cerberus coming after them with Annabeth calming him down by scratching him behind the ear was hilarious. This also looked great with the visuals for me.

Without going into too much detail (maybe I should just go all in on spoilers in this stuff moving forward?), Zeus’s Master Bolt mysteriously ending up in Percy’s backpack was odd. That thing is huge. How did he not know Ares snuck it in the?

The almost-8-year-old and I were a little confused during the scene with Hades in the Underworld, but we re-watched and talked about it to understand exactly what he and Percy were talking about.

I’m very excited for next week’s episode. We finally get to see Lance Riddick as Zeus in his final ever live action appearance before he tragically passed away. He’s a great actor, so I’m excited to see what he does in the role

Overall, I liked the episode, and it’s an improvement on last week which I felt was a little disappointing. I’m excited for the finale and can’t wait to see how everything gets wrapped up. WHAT is Ares doing?
