The surprise-drop audiobook Star Wars: The High Republic: Seeds of Starlight was another fun adventure.
Written by George Mann and narrated by Todd Haberkor, Seeds of Starlight takes us back to Eiram where Starlight Beacon was crashed into the sea following a Nihil sabotage.
Jedi Master Eve Byre is traveling alongside her padawan Cam Lindon as well as two others Tep Tep and Kildo. A distress call brings them to Eiram where a monster, later revealed to be the return of the Drengir, has been terrorizing the citizenry

I really liked the new Jedi Cam Lindon.
Cam was a good addition to the Star Wars universe. He was injured in a crash where Coruscant police were chasing an alleged thief. They smashed into the transport that he was in, crushing his larynx. His speaking voice is now robotic as he speaks with a vocoder.
Star Wars hasn’t brought us many Jedi with disabilities, so Cam was an outlier. He went on a great journey with his master, and I can’t wait for part two.
I died every time Tep Tep spoke.
The first time that I heard the voice for Tep Tep in the audio book, I immediately thought of the old cartoon Muppet Babies. I cracked up every time. It was so funny.
Tep Tep forever.
George Mann has put Eve Byre through a LOT.
So, uh, what does George Mann have against Jedi Master Eve Byre?
In his most recent book Star Wars: The High Republic: Tears of the Nameless, Byre and her padawan Zaph Mora is murdered by one of the Nihil’s Children of the Storm named Sicarus and one of his Nameless.
For the rest of that book, Byre is tortured by being kept in a prison cell next to the cell that holds the Nameless. She is constantly tortured, suffering from their near-constant attacks for days until she is rescued toward the end of the book. It was very brutal at the time, but little did. I know that George Mann had more in mind for Byre than that.
In this audiobook, she’s partnered with Cam as her newest padawan, and they go on an adventure with Kildo and Tep Tep. That, however, is derailed when she is captured and tortured by the Drengir in this book. This poor Jedi cannot catch a break. I feel awful for her.
Hopefully, when we see her again in the future, her life is going a little bit better.
