“Choice”, the penultimate episode of The Acolyte, finally told us the true story about what happened so many moons ago on Brendok. And, boy, it was wild!

In the third episode “Destiny“, we saw the events of what led Osha to the Jedi Temple, but it felt incomplete. Now, we have the full story on what happened in Brendok after seeing things from the Jedi perspective.

It’s not a great look for Sol! In fact, he looks terrible.

Sol was the problem on Brendok. Sure, Mother Koril wasn’t much better and deserves a lot of the blame, but the majority of the problems can be traced directly to Sol. He was so passionate about saving Osha (and Mae, kind of), that he was blinded to everything around him and the poor decisions he was making.

He even got so confused at one point that he called Mae “Osha”. He was too far gone to see things reasonably.

The episode, however, did confirm that the witches were using the dark side of the force to split the soul of one child into two different bodies. This confirms what Mother Koril said to Mother Aniseya in the third episode about the Jedi being upset if they found out how the twins were “created”.

I was pleasantly surprised that Indara was the one of the three human Jedi trying to keep the peace. She was continuously pushed by Sol as she was trying to repeatedly do the right thing.

Her aggression towards Sol at the end of the episode was poignant. He refused to listen to her and drove things to where she had to kill a dozen witches in order to save Kelnacca.

The fight scene with Kelnacca, Sol, and Torbin was awesome. It was one of the coolest lightsaber fights in all of Star Wars. I need more Wookiee Jedi in my life.

My only frustration with the episode was that I didn’t like the Torbin’s behavior. A lot of it is excusable, as he is a child, but some of it just didn’t land for me.

Overall, I loved this episode, and I can’t wait until the final!
