The best show that nobody is talking about right now is without a doubt in my mind Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Of course, I was concerned when they talked about doing a new show based on what was set up in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. I loved that movie I loved that movie., but there’s always some concern when they’re going to take a concept from a movie and make a show out of it to build the world out more.

Now that I’ve seen the first season, they hit an absolute grand slam.

Most of the original cast from the movie came back to voice their characters except for Jackie Chan (obviously), but having the four kids who voiced the turtles back was awesome. They’re so funny together and legitimately felt like brothers.

The story structures were well done with each of the four episodes focusing on one turtle each before bringing them together for a big team-up fight. It was so well done, and I liked the style of the episodes to allow each turtle to be the focus for their own episode.

The animation style, while not as revolutionary is what we got Mutant Mayhem, was still excellent. It was 2D (not 3D like the movie) but it still felt similar enough to the movie, that it worked. All of the character design was really good, and I’m not sure that I can ask for more from what we got.

I can’t recommend the show highly enough. My butt will be in the seat on night one when the new movie comes out in theaters. If we had a new season of the show before then, I am all for it. They absolutely hit the jackpot with this.
