The Mandalorian junior novelization is a solid Star Wars adaptation

I recently finished the junior novelization of the first season of The Mandalorian. For an adaptation geared at a younger audience, I enjoyed what Joe Schreiber did with the material. The book is a quick read and relives all the top moments of the first season in a cohesive story.

The big question whenever a film or TV show is novelized is what gets cut out. While the first episode of the show starts with Din Djarin hunting down Horatio Sanz’s character “The Mythrol”, this is completely left out of the book starting the story with the bounty for Baby Yodu… Groju… or Yoju, if you will. (Hi, Steele.)

Schreiber does a good job of making the stakes seem important throughout the book; however, the final battle on Nevarro just didn’t feel like it has the gravitas as it did on the show. Of course, that could very well be because I knew everything that was going to happen before it happened.

Overall, The Mandalorian junior novelization is a pleasant adaptation that was a nice, easy read.
