Star Wars: The Bad Batch: “The Calvary Has Arrived” | TV Review

After the fun seasons, The Bad Batch hung up their helmets with a fantastic finale this week. What a send off for this show.

I’ve been scared for weeks that two things were going to happen this season.

  • I thought that more of our heroes were going to die.
  • I thought that Tech was going to be revealed as one of the clone assassins.

And … Phew! Neither happened!

So much happened in this episode, so thank the Maker this one was 50 minutes long.

Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair get captured and tortured by Hemlock after a team of assassin clones come for them with some pretty sick weapons.

Omega gets help from Echo and Emerie and gets the other prisoner kids to safety. What’s best is that, despite the fact that she had help, this was mostly Omega’s doing.

Omega and Echo go back, free all of the clones being experimented on, and free the rest of Clone Force 99.

Nala Se sacrifices herself to destroy all of the data collected by the Imperials for Project Necromancer, killing Rampart in the process.

Crosshair takes and nails the shit that frees Omega from Hemlock’s grasp. He and Hunter light the Imperial up with a handful of blaster shots to the chest, and he falls to his death. Clone Force 99 escapes Tantiss for Pabu.

Oh yeah! During all this, the Zillo Beast was rampaging around! Perfect!

Plus, as with Star Wars Rebels, we got a brief glimpse into the future. A grown Omega talking to Hunter about her desire to leave her boys and go help the Rebellion. She looked great. He looked great. I hope we get more here in the future

Week after week, this animation crew killed it. This was an amazing show that continuously pushed the boundaries of what was possible with the animation style. It was a beautiful show.

As I’ve said before, when this show was first announced, I was down on it and didn’t understand why it was a thing. I was hooked immediately when the first episodes came out. They built up some great characters and told a fantastic story.

So long, Clone Force 99. Hope to see you soon.
