X-Men ’97 – Season 1 | TV Review

I was always very excited when it was announced that Marvel was going to be doing an animated continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series. Little did I know that X-Men ’97 was going to blow me away.

Admittedly, I enjoy pretty much every Marvel movie or TV show out there. If I have fun watching something, the quality of that movie or show is always going to be less important. But that said, though, I legit had no idea that I was going to love X-Men ’97 the way that I did.

I previously reviewed all of the episodes of this season except for the final two before I decided to stop reviewing every episode of TV shows. You can go read those for my thoughts on the earlier episodes of the season.

The final two battles between the X-Men vs. Magneto and the X-Men vs. Bastion was thrilling television. It was well acted, the fight scenes were awesome, and the writing was terrific.

It’s rare that I feel like everyone got their chance to shine in such a big ensemble cast like this, but I think they nailed it with everyone.

The end of the show was terrific, teasing another battle with Apocalypse. But, will we be getting the X-Men vs Apocalypse simultaneously in the past, present, and future? I’m so intrigued by what they have planned for season two. I can’t wait.

What If…? was always great, but this gives me high hopes for the upcoming animated shows about Wakanda and Spider-Man.

X-Men ’97 is a fantastic show, and it really doesn’t get better than this for the X-Men. This was great.
